Mono Lake to the east of Yosemite is over a mile high, and the stars are crisp and bright when the skies are clear. Even after two years of photographing the night sky, I still find myself mesmerized by being able to see the entire arc of the Mikly Way in good conditions. This is a stack of a number of exposures, including one where a car in the distance was pointed directly at the lake, casting a little bit of light on the tufa formation. a7R2, 18 mm, 20 s, f/2.8, iso 3200

Hello astrolovers! My name is Derek, I'm incredibly honored to be offered to take over this feed today for a couple posts. I am high school math teacher with a passion for photography, based out of New Jersey. I love astrophotography, but particularly love to timelapse the Milky Way. Check out my page to see more of my work @_morfoto_ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This my first post today, and it comes from Acadia National Park in the state of Maine, USA. I traveled to this park in August 2015 to photograph the Perseids meteor shower and was very lucky to get some clear skies for this timelapse. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The flashing lights you see in the trees are from cars driving through the park following a ranger led star party about a mile up the road from where I captured this timelapse. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In addition to a Nikon D7100 and 17-55mm f/2.8 lens, I used a motorized pan/tilt tripod head (Soloshot) to add another degree of interest to this timelapse. I didn't use any special software outside of Bridge and Photoshop to process this. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This timelapse was the first proper Milky Way timelapse that I recored, and it was captured over the span of about five hours. I've since learned much more about timelapses and hopefully you'll see my progression over my posts today! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #timelapse #longexposure #motiongraphics #timelapsevideo #milkyway #astrophotography #astrophoto #universetoday #nightsky #nightimages #nightphoto #optoutside #exploremore #nikon #milkywaychasers #acadianationalpark #acadia #maine

Hi again everyone! Derek here again with my last Milky Way timelapse of the day. I am high school math teacher with a passion for photography, based out of New Jersey. I love astrophotography, but particularly love to timelapse the Milky Way. Check out my page to see more of my work @_morfoto_ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I used a Nikon D750 with a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens at 24mm to capture this timelapse. I again used LRTimelapse to help process the stills from this timelapse, though I did not use the Timelapse+ VIEW intervalometer this time because the I did not try to capture the day-to-night transition. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you've been following along with my first two posts today, hopefully you've been able to see the progression of my astrotimelapse skills over the past 2 years. This last video comes from Crater Lake National Park in July 2017. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Finally, I want to give a huge thanks to Fraser and the @universetoday profile for giving me the opportunity to share my work with you all! I hope you enjoyed following my transition and progression in capturing astrotimelapses, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to DM me! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #timelapse #longexposure #motiongraphics #timelapsevideo #milkyway #astrophotography #astrophoto #universetoday #nightsky #nightimages #nightphoto #optoutside #exploremore #nikon #milkywaychasers #craterlake #craterlakenationalpark #oregon #pacificnorthwest

Link in bio. __ STACKED www.instagram.com/nwickphotos Not having been able to go out for some proper astro photos, my only option lately has been revisiting older photos and trying a new spin on them. This photo was taken early last year at a beach in Washington. I still remember this night so vividly. With my gf and my friends wife dead asleep in the motel room, me and my buddy drove out to this random beach in the La Push area. Once we got there, I immediately recognized the Milky Way and got overly excited. However, due to cloud cover and heavy fog moving in, I didn't have much time to shoot. I set up quickly and begun taking a bunch of shots hoping I would catch something decent in between the heavy cloud cover and fog. I think I did. Canon 5D Mk 2 Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 Sky: 15 image stack, f/2.8, ISO 6400, 15 seconds. ( I was surprised at how well Starry Landscape Stacker put together the stacked image with a variety of cloud coverage) FG: Single, f/4, ISO 800, 2 minutes.

📷 by @moophz __ Reposted from our Facebook group. Join and post in our group to get a feature! Link in bio. __ PANO Utter silence in the Atacama. It was cloudy AF, I went out scouting for cactus and randomly reached this off-road location at 3500m in the desert. As soon as it started clearing out, I knew this night was about to remain unforgettable. Stars appear bigger and more colorful than the usual due to the thin high clouds (probably Cirrus clouds). Astronomers call those conditions 'bad transparency', it's bad for deep sky astrophotography and science but unleashes the beast out of starry landscapes. 50% of this trip's photos were taken during that night. SOCIAL EXIF Canon 6D Mod UVIR-cut | Sigma Art 20mm F/1.4 | 60 frames each of: ISO-10000, 20s, F/2.2

For the second time in three years, snow has accumulated in the desert near the northern Algerian town of Aïn Séfra. Sometimes called the “gateway to the desert,” the town of 35,000 people sits between the Sahara and the Atlas Mountains. This image provides nadir (straight-down) closeups of the region, where snow covered dry mountaintops and the crests of tall sand dunes. 📷 by @danieljstein __ Reposted from our Facebook group. Join and post in our group to get a feature! Link in bio. __ BLEND/TRACKED “Tis’ the Season” This was taken at Spruce Knob, WV, one of my favorite locations where I originally fell in love with astrophotography. Being here even just to observe puts me in the best of best moods. This photo, with the prancing Evergreens in the foreground drifting into the serene Appalachian mountain range makes me so very content. I traveled up the mountain in the bitter cold gusty wind this past weekend. With a very snowy and icey path ahead, I was glad to be driving my Subaru, which made me feel safe the entire joruney. But when I summited, I was greeted with 40 MPH winds and bitter cold temperatures. Having this image on my phone with me got me through a night that could have been a bust on the knob. Very often I get great results at Spruce Knob, even when there are clouds present. Each time is visit I fall more in love with this location, and seeing this photo time and time again brings back so many memories. instagram.com/danieljstein djsphotovideo.com This was taken with my Canon 5D Mark IV and 24-70 f/2.8L II, 57mm. Stars were tracked at 2 minutes, ISO 1600, f/2.8 Foreground was 8 minutes, ISO 800, f/2.8
