Hey everyone, Karthik here! I'm currently getting my Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering and I am an amateur photographer based in Tempe, Arizona. I've been given the privilege of taking over the Universe Today Instagram channel for a day. :) You'll find my own gallery @psuchenautes (you'll find some great stuff :D )
I understand a lot of shots on here are of the Milkyway. I have few amazing ones to come but my first post is this timelapse sequence that I made from over 1200 images of sunrise, sunset and the moonrise. I hope to watch this will brighten up your day!
On the day before new year's eve, @prady_bala and I decided to drive to Utah and it was the first time that everything worked out fine although we had decided just 3 hours before hitting the road. We managed to visit Monument Valley, Canyonlands NP, Arches NP and Kaibab Lake on our way back; hiking and shooting photographs in the freezing weather and with almost no sleep and limited supplies for over 2 days. But the reward was witnessing one of the best sunsets and sunrises over some of the epic landscapes I have been to.
I shot all the images using my Canon 5D mkII combined with Rokinon 24mm f1.4 and Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 lenses. The images were then processed using Lightroom, LightRoom timelapse and iMovie app. (Music: Mountains by Han Zimmer)
